Gut microbiota and lung microbiota

(Friendly medicine 07 04 2020)

There are several theories suggesting a relationship between gut health and lung problems. Here are some of them: Intestinal dysbiosis theory: claims that an alteration of the intestinal bacterial flora can affect lung function, increasing the risk of respiratory infections and asthma. Immune system theory: states that chronic inflammation of the gut can weaken the immune system and increase vulnerability to respiratory infections. Systemic inflammation theory: suggests that chronic inflammation of the gut can spread throughout the body, including the lungs, and contribute to respiratory problems. These theories suggest that good gut health can positively impact lung health.

Dr. Carla Marzetti speaks on the April 7, 2020 episode of MEDICINA AMICA to talk about Food, intestinal microbiota and pulmonary microbiota.
